Manchester Golf Club Course Manager
Mark Jones received a telephone call today to say that the efforts
of his team to help preserve the environment have been recognised
by an award from the GEA. The award given was the 'Environmental
Improvement Project Award for Nature Conservation, specifically
relating to woodland, gorse and heather management'.
Golf courses around the world
are seeing tangible results from introducing environmentally sustainable
management projects across their golf courses. These projects
are achieving an increase in habitat varieties, improving playing
experiences for golfers and providing a positive contribution
to wildlife.
With the ever-increasing spotlight
on environmental matters, it is important for golf courses to
assess what they can do to protect and enhance the environment
and continue to maximise the enjoyment of golf.
The aim of the Golf Environment
Awards is to recognise, reward and promote individuals and golf
courses for the time and focus they have put into environmentally
sustainable management projects. Congratulations to Mark and his
team for the work that they have put into realising this award.....
