Manchester Golf Club has been chosen by England Golf to host one of their most prestigious events, The Reid Trophy.
The competition is wholly run and organised by England Golf. As you would expect for such an important event, advertising will be placed in the media, there will be referees, cameras on and around the course, tents erected for officials and volunteers, AA signs placed in strategic places throughout Middleton/Rochdale directing traffic and visitors to our golf club.
The championship attracts a top quality field of English and International amateur players. The competition is open to boys aged under 14 years of age and whose playing handicap is 7.4 or better.
The 54-hole stroke play championship is played over three days, beginning Tuesday 8th August and finishing on Thursday 10th August 2017, the Practice day is Monday 7th August. The full field of 144 players will play 18 holes on each of the first two days. After 36 holes, the leading 70 competitors and ties qualify to play the final 18 holes on the third day, the 10th August.
The winner will be the player who returns the lowest gross score over 54 holes.
To support England Golf and to ensure that the competition runs smoothly each day the assistance of volunteers is a necessity. We will require a minimum of 35 volunteers for each day of the event to help oversee the following areas:
- Starter to announce players onto the tee
- Clubhouse Scoreboard
- On-course Leader boards x 4
- Walking Score Recorders
- Standby Recorders
If you would like to volunteer your help please contact, Steve Boustead via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Food & refreshment will be provided on each of the days for all volunteers. All volunteers are invited to a Drinks Reception on Wednesday 9th August at approximately 7.00pm.
I am sure as a member of Manchester Golf Club you will support all endeavours to make this tournament a success and extend a warm welcome to all who participate and visit our Club.
