Practice Facilities & Game Improvement

We have some of the best practice facilities in the region

Not only can Hopwood boast one of the best golf courses in the region but we also have some of the best practice facilities around.

The Driving Range has four covered bays and a further seven grass bays or bays with mats depending on conditions. There is also a practice bunker.

Balls can be purchased from the professional shop in a variety of sizes to suit your practice schedule.

There is also a Members Only practice area where members can hit and retrieve their own balls - there is sufficient scope to hit long irons in this area.

The Short Game Practice Areas at the entrance to the club feature two individual chipping greens built to course standard specifications with bunkers and marked flags. These greens offer the opportunity to practise a variety of shots from a number of challenging and different lies.

The 18 hole practice putting green at Manchester Golf Club is maintained to the same standard as the greens on the course and gives an opportunity to practice long and short, uphill and downhill putts.

In 2008 Manchester Golf Club decided to launch Academy Partnership at the club in response to requests from golfers who wanted to improve their game and sample our fantastic practice facilities. These are the current details for Academy Partnership:

Lessons can be arranged on the driving range or short game areas with one of our three PGA Professionals who are dedicated to the task of helping Manchester Golf Club members and visitors reach their full golfing potential.

In 2008 Brian Connor opened a state of the art Golf Performance Centre at the club. This unique facility provides amateurs the opportunity to take their game to a professional level by using some of the tools that are normally reserved for players that are on tour.

The Golf Performance Centre offers V1 Digital analysis and Flightscope technology. V1 Digital Analysis provides visitors to the Centre the chance to view, compare and breakdown their golf swing so that by gaining a better understanding of their swing they can make improvements.

Flightscope technology allows the PGA Professional to accurately custom fit golf clubs to the individual golfer's requirement. Computerised feedback is analysed showing the results from a variety of manufacturers and specifications to achieve the best results possible. Clubs are available to try from Ping, Titleist, Taylor Made, Cobra, Callaway, Mizuno and Cleveland.

In 2011 Brian and Scott Connor also opened a Putting Lab at Manchester Golf Club. The Putting Lab provides a state of the art fitting and lesson studio to enable customers to improve that most essential part of the game.

Using Science and Motion Technology and V1 Digital Capture Software these PGA Professionals are able to advise on technique and stroke or to fit customers with a putter that will give them the best opportunity of making those vital putts.

A large range of Ping, Scotty Cameron, Odyssey, Yes and Taylor Made putters can be tried in the Putting Lab and on the putting green making this a facility that customers travel from far and wide to use.

Practice Facilities are exclusive to Manchester Golf Club Members, Corporate, Access and Academy Partners, Visiting Golfers who have paid a green fee and those customers taking part in golf lessons.
