At the conclusion of a great first day of the Lancashire Amateur at Hopwood, the field of 132 players produced some great scores on the challenging Blue Course. The best of the day was an outstanding fiver under par 67 by John Carroll from Huyton & Prescott Golf Club, closely followed by a 68 by Toby Ainsworth from Marriot Worsley Park. Both made the most of warm but blustery conditions on a very well presented course.
