The first thirty-six holes of the Hopwood & Lathom Classic, a World Amateur Golf Ranking event, took place on Sunday 14th June at Manchester Golf Club. Played from the challenging blue tees on a warm and blustery day, the field of 62 players from a host of clubs produced some fine scoring. The victor on the day was Alfie Ward of Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club (Australia) with a superb score of eight under par 136, capped-off with 66 in the afternoon. Luke Bartram, Rossendale GC, and Sean Dobson, Preston GC, finished one shot behind having both shot scores in the sixties in the afternoon.
Thomas Prescott and Max King were the best performing home players, both finishing in the top 10. Congratulations and thanks to all competitors, scores for which can be accessed via the interactive scoreboard below.
Attention now switches to Ormskirk GC with many of the players competing this weekend in the Lathom Eagle at our co-host venue.
