As Captain for 2023, it is with pride and privilege that I welcome you to the Manchester Golf Club. This is a pivotal year as we host the English Women’s Open Strokeplay Championship, open the Manchester Golf Academy and refurbish our historic clubhouse.
While some things are changing, we will continue to offer a warm Manchester welcome to members, visitors and guests throughout my year of captaincy, to ensure that everyone enjoys our outstanding golfing facilities. The magnificent, championship course is being supplemented by state-of-the-art practice facilities that include a new 350 yard driving range with covered and open air bays and a 575m2 short game area. Together with our existing practice areas, including remodelled practice greens at the entrance to the club, golfers of all abilities will be able to hone their game at Hopwood.
Our professional, Brian Connor, and his House of Golf team are on hand to provide equipment from all the leading brands, best-in-class coaching and custom fitting using the latest technology including Trackman.
The function suite, lounges and chapel are open all year round, offering exceptional food, drink and hospitality for our members, guests and visitors. As a consequence, I look forward to meeting as many people as possible in the clubhouse during at landmark time for Manchester.

Set in over 240 acres or in metric terms one square kilometre the course is predominantly moorland in character but with heathland and parkland features – when you play this course you will find yourself surrounded by scenic, rural views.
