We are delighted to host, in conjunction with Ormskirk Golf Club, a 72 hole, World Amateur Golf Ranking Scratch Strokeplay Event. Played alongside the well established 36 hole Hulbert Trophy and Lathom Eagle competitions, the Event provides leading amateurs with the opportunity to compete from blue tees on two outstanding courses, over consecutive Sundays in June. Applications are now open to golfers with a WHI of 4.5 or less, with entries balloted to 66 entrants – you can register via the Event Portal below.

The Entry Fee for both events is £140 (£60 for members of either club). Players can apply to play in either the Hulbert Trophy or Lathom Eagle for £75 (£35 for members of either club), although entrants to both events will be prioritised in the event of a ballot.
The Competition will be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as laid down by the R&A. The Competition is open to full members aged 18 years and over of recognised Golf Clubs (or otherwise at the discretion of the Committee) with a maximum WHI of 4.5. Should entries be over-subscribed, a ballot by handicap will take place. The final date for entries is Sunday 31 May 2026. Starting times will be allocated by handicap and the Order of Play will be sent to all competitors by email. Entry fees will not be refunded unless notice of withdrawal is received by the General Manager before Thurday 4th June 2026. The Club reserves the right to refuse any entry without giving a reason. Any competitor whose playing handicap has changed from the date of entry must inform the Committee on the day of the Competition under penalty of disqualification. Prize winners must have an active handicap and no competitor will receive more than one prize. All prize winners are expected to attend the Prize Presentation, which will take place shortly after the return of the final scorecards. Competitors will be made temporary members on the day of the Competition and will be expected to conform to the Club’s Dress Code. All disputes will be referred to and settled by the Competition Committee, whose decision will be final. In the event of a tie, the rules of the Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs will apply.
